AP supply: Texas, Oklahoma speak to SEC about becoming a member of league

Texas and Oklahoma have had discussions with the Southeastern Convention about leaving the Large 12 and becoming a member of the powerhouse league.

An individual with information of the scenario confirmed to The Related Press a report in The Houston Chronicle that the 2 colleges have talked about switching conferences with SEC officers, however no formal invites have been prolonged.

The individual, who spoke on situation of anonymity as a result of the talks had been supposed to be confidential, stated Texas initiated the discussions.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and the 2 colleges all declined remark. Large 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby didn’t return messages.

Such a transfer would give the SEC 16 soccer groups.

It could be a devastating blow to the 10-member Large 12.
